Gigamoma is a 100% recycled, one-of-a-kind fashion brand, hand-crafted by grandmothers and designed by young talent. This represents an intergenerational exchange of creativity and experience.
This business model shifts manufacturing away from cheap overseas labor to well-paying jobs for female elders and young up-and-coming designers. It also ensures that thousands of tonnes of used or discarded clothes don’t end up in landfill.

The growing appetite for second-hand luxury. A 2019 study from Boston Consulting Group and designer resale site Vestiaire Collective forecast that the resale industry will increase its turnover from $25 billion in 2018 to $36 billion in 2021, representing around 9% of the luxury market.
How it works
We take your vintage or 2nd-hand designer clothing and redesign and repurpose them for a completely new look or function. Talented young designers will provide the design templates to choose from, whether it’s a leather handbag or denim jacket, and our army of crafty grandmothers will turn them into something fabulous, partly by hand, partly with the help of modern machinery. This creates a unique one-off garment while making lasting, slow-made fashion.
